FAQ's Frequently Asked Questions

What should I use as a base under my patio?
We recommend that you prepare a level surface with at least 1 inch of sand.

Can I lay stone over an existing concrete slab?
Yes, as long as the slab is still level and stable. In this case, you will want to use masonry cement on your outside edges to hold your bricks in place.

Do I need to use mortar on the pavers?
No, we recommend that you sweep sand into the crevices between pavers instead of mortar.

How do I cut pavers?
You can use a masonry blade in a circular saw.

Should I seal concrete pavers?
It is not mandatory but if you choose to you can buy a concrete sealer from your local hardware or home improvement store. Sealers are basically water repellant and are used to weatherproof the pavers.

What is the white substance that appears on my pavers?
The white substance is called Efflorescence that manifests itself as a powder left on the surface of concrete after being wet. It is a natural occurrence that happens as concrete hardens. It will ultimately disappear and we suggest doing nothing. If cleaning is to be done, we suggest removing it with a concrete cleaner or a simple mixture of 1-cup vinegar to 1-gallon water.
